SAN ANTONIO – Two free seminars on fruit trees will be presented in January by the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service in collaboration with two well-known nurseries in San Antonio, program coordinators said.
The first seminar will be from 10:30 a.m. to noon Jan. 13 at Millberger’s Landscaping and  Nursery, 3920 N. Loop 1604 E.
The second seminar will be from 9 a.m. to noon Jan. 20 at Fanick’s Garden Center, 1025 Holmgreen Road.

These programs will cover the basic steps of selecting appropriate fruit tree species; how to properly plant, train and maintain citrus trees; and how and when to harvest the fruit, said David Rodriguez, AgriLife Extension horticulturist for Bexar County.
“The public is invited to attend and there will be continuing education credits for Master Gardeners who participate,” Rodriguez said. “There will be one and a half credits for Master Gardeners attending the Jan. 13 program and three credits for those attending the Jan. 20 program.”
He said all attendees should bring a pen and a notebook as there will be a lot of useful information for both new and experienced gardeners imparted at these programs.
“These seminars have been very popular, so we also suggest attendees arrive early for the best parking and seating,” he said.
Rodriguez said the Jan. 20 seminar will include a live radio broadcast on WOAI Radio’s Lawn and Garden Show.
“WOAI Radio’s Bill Rohde and I will be there at Fanick’s to answer any gardening questions callers may have,” he said.
